Μulti-Trekking Polidendri – A Greek Tradition
Μulti-Trekking Polidendri! Multiple activities in the Polidendri forrest, what used to be the “Royal estate”!
It is an activity that includes hiking in a beautiful landscape, descent in a small rappel, crossing of a ravine and swimming in blue lagoons at the lush Mavrovouni.
We invite you in an idyllic “journey” in an area of thirty five thousand acres full of myths, traditions and history.
The ever beautiful Polidendri forrest is one of the most organized forests of our country. Marked hiking paths, bike paths and picnic areas give visitors the chance to enjoy its wonderful nature.
Here they find shelter, still in large populations, deer, rabbits, wildcats while in 1991 the rarely seen feline species of Lynx has been sighted.
Its abundant flora and fauna and the mild slopes of its grounds makes it a site with a lot of interest and ideal for recreation visits, relaxation, rejuvenation and a multitude of other activities. With starting point the Polidendri forrest from the point where the Monastery of Panaghia is, we start the Μulti-Trekking Polidendri! We are hiking on a western path for approximately 1,5 hours until we end up at the stream of “Bourboulithra”.
Here we wear neoprene suits and we dip in the crystal waters of the remote blue lagoons. It is a landscape of unparallel beauty. At this point and depending on the water level we descend into 1 or 2 small rappels. Then we visit a farmhouse where we prepare our midday barbecue! Here we have the opportunity to take part in the milking of the animals and then produce our own cream dessert!
During our stay at the farmhouse we can try our accuracy in archery like a contemporary Filoctetes. In the end of our activity we reach Agiokampos following an amazing route through the ravine.
